Julie Ray

For as long as she can remember Julie has had a passion for food; so it’s not surprising that in 1999 she decided on a career change, topped the class in her Commercial Cookery and Food Studies course and came to Sydney Seafood School for work experience as a class assistant.

Upon completing her course, she also began recipe writing and food styling for magazines and cookbooks. Julie  moved to Byron Bay where she teaches cooking classes, still writes for cookbooks and magazines, works as a freelance food stylist and returns to Sydney regularly to teach classes at Sydney Seafood School.

Julie has a monthly Saturday spot on ABC Northcoast radio with Graeme Stuart and Phil Dudman the Garden Guru. Phil brings things from the Garden and Julie cooks it in the kitchen.

Julie wants as many people as possible to share her passion for cooking and great food.

Saw you at the growers market Coffs Harbour today. I was impressed. I bought ingredients at the market and went back to my parents and cooked the whiting fillets with the stirfry and rice for lunch. I was missing a few ingredients but it was still delicious. I will put that on my list to make regularly. It was quick, easy, delicious and healthy. What more could I ask for.

Hi Julie I was at the Nambour Garden Show today and watched all your shows. I came away feeling very inspired. Thank you and look forward to coming to the farmers markets at Bryon to see you.
